The Vision: A Milestone Gift of Comfort and Memories
This journey was a special 50th-anniversary gift for Mr. Arup Das and his wife, an octogenarian and a septuagenarian, from their sons and daughters-in-law. The goal was to create a nostalgic, relaxed road trip from Guwahati to Digboi, allowing them to rediscover the heritage of Upper Assam. Given the significance of the milestone, the primary focus was on maximum comfort, a gentle pace, and meticulous planning to ensure a stress-free experience for the elderly couple.
The Personalization: Heritage, Luxury, and Ease
We designed an 8-day itinerary that blended the grandeur of Assam’s colonial past with its natural beauty, ensuring the travel felt like a celebration:
Colonial Grandeur: A stay at the Kaziranga Golf Resort in Jorhat provided a serene and luxurious experience, evoking the timeless charm of the region's tea estate heritage.
Strategic Comfort: Accommodations like Hotel Tree Fern in Dibrugarh were chosen for their convenient locations, minimizing unnecessary movement while maintaining high service standards.
Cultural Immersion: We included a visit to the Orchid Research and Development Centre in Kaziranga for a vibrant cultural program, showcasing the traditional folk dances of Assam.
Nostalgic Stops: The route was designed to cover the soul of the region, from the historic oil town of Digboi to the river banks of Dibrugarh, allowing the couple to soak in the landscapes at their own speed.
The Execution: Adaptability and Care
For elderly travelers, the "how" is just as important as the "where." We ensured that the road travel was well-timed to prevent fatigue, with a dedicated driver-cum-guide, Shukur, who provided constant support and local insight.
Our commitment to our guests was further tested when a mid-trip change was requested to attend a conference in Digboi. We quickly adjusted the logistics and support to accommodate this deviation, ensuring the transition was seamless and did not disrupt the relaxed nature of their anniversary celebration.
It was a profound honor for us to play a small part in celebrating 50 years of togetherness for Mr. and Mrs. Das. Helping them revisit the places that hold their memories is exactly what makes our work so rewarding.
